Fruit Sweet Scones with jam and Avonmore Freshly Whipped Cream


  • 900g white flour
  • 45 g unbleached castor sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 180g Avonmore Butter
  • a handful of sultanas
  • 3 eggs
  • approx 425 ml Avonmore Fresh Milk

For the glaze:

  • Egg wash made with one egg and a tiny bit
  • granulated sugar

To serve:

  • Jam of choice
  • Avonmore Freshly whipped cream


Makes 20 scones approx

Preheat oven to 200c

  1. Sift all dry ingredients together in a bowl. Make a well in the centre and rub in the Avonmore Butter until there are no big bits left.
  2. Add the sultanas. Beat eggs with the milk, add all at once to the dry ingredients and mix to a soft dough.
  3. Turn out onto a floured board, knead lightly just to shape into a 1-inch thick round shape. With a cutter make into scones. You can cut mini or big ones.  Brush the tops with the egg wash and sprinkle some sugar over them.

Bake in the oven for 12 – 15 minutes.  Keep an eye on them as all ovens vary.   Cool slightly on a wire rack, serve hot or warm.

Delicious with home made jam or marmalade and a dollop of Avonmore Freshly Whipped Cream!
